Re: Opinion poll/Best Single malt

Mrs Kerr and I usually get in a bottle of Glen Tesco for our New Year. Actually, it lasts quite well too. We had some people round recently and it still tastes as good as ever even although it's almost a year since we opened it.

What's happened to the seals?

I'm told that disappointed tourists are becoming fed up going on seal colony tours, only to find that the animals have done a body swerve. One school of thought is that canoeists have frightened them away. Can this be true?

Re: EASDALE ISLAND HOSTEL????

Is this hostel a half-way house for people being rehabilitated into society? Or is it like a youth hostel?

Re: Whipround

Would a new bridge into Seal Island from the mainland not be better? The old bridge looks great, but is just not up to modern standards, particularly for those with caravans. Given that more visitors = more money spent = more jobs in the tourist industry = greater prosperity for all = better facilit...

Why should there be a difference anyway? Perhaps the functions of all three could be combined with a barrage scheme with biomass generation and tidal turbines. Way to go.

the yellow booted yachties which pollute our island all seem to have accents which come from the other side of our Roman wall and, thus, little appreciation for the reality of this island. I'd have thought the yacht types would have fitted in very well with the prevalent culture and accents on Seil...

What a shame!

The registered "crofter" has a home address in Chelsea. True - write to the Crofters Commission in Inverness if you want confirmation. That's such a shame, though I'd be happy to help him/her out with any outstanding tax issues after I move there. BTW, I was a little bit disturbed by your...

Just out of curiosity, is there a resident accountant or lawyer that can help crofters on the island apply for their subsidies?

If one did want to apply for outline planning permission, wouldn't it be worthwhile talking to the movers and shakers on the Community Council first, perhaps discussing it over a meal?

Dear Mr Prescott

Dear Mr Prescott, if it really is you, I think you will find that your planning remit does not run quite as far as Seil. Such powers rest with Argyll and Bute Council, and, ultimately, with the Scottish Executive. However, I understand, from another thread, that it may be worthwhile "having a w...

You are all so fortunate

You are all so fortunate to be living in such a beautiful place. Perhaps, one day, in the not-too-distant future, I may be able to join you all.

It really does seem the perfect place to retire to.
