Dirty Campers
It looks like the best solution for anyone concerned about this, (and let's face it, it's a problem for the whole community when human excrement and, especially, used needles are found where kids might be playing), is to get the registration numbers of campers' vehicles so the police can trace them ...

>sorry people i would love to do that but our poor hut people at the top of the island look a bit scary i will give this one a miss thanks till our travelling friends go away take care all passing the nightclub huts< Seems to me they're better crack than a lot of current residents. And I've had no p...

I ate in the OB the other night. Food was, as usual, excellent and copious. Beer was, as always, outstanding. Service was entirely satisfactory - prompt, eficient, cheerful. Aroma was predominantly food and beer, both pretty acceptable aromas for a restaurant, with slight tinges of Scottish Water s...

>would like to catch a miscreant myself. I left a perfectly formed and quite exquisite example of a rare mineral, coprus humanis, in the same location for later collection and some toerag has nicked it. It is possible that this valuable specimen was mistaken for the casually discarded egesta of an i...

Dirty Campers
Anyone know the people who had a big dark coloured tent beside the games field at the weekend? They were probably here for the stone-skimming. They used the old stone shed as a toilet, didn't even bother to attempt to bury their sh*t. Apologies for being crude but I'd like to feed it back to them. P...

It's an interesting idea. I know between Ellenabeich and Sloc an t Siomain it needs a low tide at one wee point. Beyond that there are two places you'll need to rock climb or swim, but it's certainly possible but probably needs two people for safety.

Scottish History?
I've never heard of this but it sounds interesting.
I've been on holiday for a few weeks. A quick sampling of the forums leads me to the conclusion that people are getting even dafter. Is this correct?

There's lots of good stuff in the Heritage Centre/Museum.Like old censuses, and who's who at the cemetery. http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/SustainableDevelopment/7523 Of course if you're a 'local' you think it's only for 'tourists'! I once visited Balvicar. Felt like a tourist! Then I visited Easd...

I'm not so sure. It's a lot to do with confidence and taking responsibility, not blaming 'the English' which is pathetic. It's also about digging Scotland's real identity and culture out of the piles of tartan crap it's buried under. Like most countries would celebrate the fact that we have three na...

Terrible isn't it, PP. And indicative just how badly this country has been run for so long. We don't need to blame anybody unless it's the Scottish Labour Party who have largely created this mess over the past 50 odd years. But let's forget them and start building the kind of society we can be poud ...

>think they should have a toll on the bridge. Only visitors pay full rate with locals paying nothing. It would not stop people visiting would it and at the same time a safety device for cars< Or a troll. >we English have to behave like the locals. Poorly at best bloody awful at worst< That sounds very bitter. That's a shame. It also begs the obvious question which you can probably figure out yourself.. The odd thing about this subject, to me, is, many locals here now are children/grandchildren of pe...

Traffic Lights
It seems to have resurfaced. I vote NO traffic lights at the bridge. Again. Let's be a wee bit different and give commonsense a chance. We've coped for over 200 years without them.
