Many who are in favour of green energy seem to question whether wind turbines are an efficient way provide it.Husker Doo wrote:you cannot be taken seriously if you believe in green energy but you werent prepeared to have a turbine behind your house.

Re: Clachan Windfarm - meeting on Saturday at Kilmelford
The main road through Argyll – the A83 - was blocked for most of the day yesterday at Port Ann on Loch Fyne, when a large lorry carrying wind turbine parts slewed across both lanes of the road and its load shifted The reason for the extended recovery operation was that the crane brought in was unabl...

Moonraker, your posts become more deranged by the month - have you forgotten to take your medication? I am sure that phoning the police is allowable, and I am pretty sure that parties are still allowed in Balvicar. What on earth are you on about?

Looks like that eyesore is going to be around for a while then. Nothing's been selling this year.NickB wrote:.
There are 'for sale' notices on all the plots now. I imagine that they aren't going to build until a certain number have been sold.

Re: Community development
The Community Council is elected and anyone can stand - it doesn't get much more representative than that, and if you aren't happy with the composition of it then you know who to blame. If you don't like what they are saying/doing on your behalf then contact them or go to the next meeting and voice ...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
Strikes me that those who are doing the slagging etc are very recent "incomers" themselves. In one particular case the opposition to the windfarm and the landowner is not driven by anything other than envy that someone else is going to make a little money out of something which benefits t...

Re: The proposed Clachan Wind Farm
NickB, if you haven't seen the leaflet then have a look at the website http://www.westcoastrenewables.co.uk While I am not against wind turbines in principle and didn't find the Raera project too objectionable this is a different kettle of fish, and I find the way this development is being presented...

Balvicar is the centre of the island, where real people live Moonie - not a twee little tourist postcard village full of holiday lets, so empty in the Winter that the pub closes for half the week. There IS a shop in Ellenabeich already, selling postcards, ice-cream and Seafari tickets. I expect the ...

The BNP is an English disease. Please don't contaminate Scottish politics with that. For your information this is a British election we are talking about and the BNP is a legally constituted British political party. I am told it has a very strong presence in Scotland Maggie, how old are you? Have y...

Not so apathetic at Kilmelford then. It seems N-power's proposals were massively rejected at a public meeting this week. The plan for a new pier at the head of Loch Melfort was particularly unpopular. Surely it could have been an opportunity?

The council seem to be very keen on a causeway as they think it will be a cheap option.
Once someone has done some real sums and someone else who knows what they are doing has explained the hydrographic implications I expect they will drop the idea quickly enough.

Re: Opinion poll/Best Single malt
Personally I'm a great fan of Scotch and Coke. One part malt, seven parts coke, two large chunks of ice and a slice of lemon (or lime sometimes). Anyone prefer Scotch and Pepsi? It is a little known fact that most Speyside malts go best with Morrison's own brand cola - I always pick up a supply whe...
