Is ForArgyll dead?

Post by NickB »

.
The proprietor of the above mentioned blog was scammed by a bogus BT help desk caller two weeks ago. She allowed them two hours unfettered access to her system, and since her 'confession' no new articles have been posted.

Stay smart folks, don't let the scammers in. Never, ever give anyone you don't know remote access to your PC.

..
The site is still moribund, and although it does appear to be possible to post comments there is nothing to comment on and no further communication from the proprietor. I wonder if the IT brains behind the site has decided they are no longer willing to support what had become one woman's personal political crusade.

I think a genuine online broadsheet for Argyll, with a wide selection of news and opinion pieces from those of all viewpoints or none, could be a valuable thing; in fact, I was very supportive of FA when it started, but it has deteriorated into a laughing stock and now appears to be completely broken.

I do happen to have registered forargyll.co.uk . I would be prepared to create and host a site if someone else would be prepared to take over the day to day running of it. I would help when I could, particularly with the sourcing of guest authors, , but I would be very keen to avoid putting any editorial stamp on the site myself, preferring to see how it evolved. The main guidelines would be that stories were

a) directly concerning or relevant to life in Argyll
b) reported factually, with no overt political bias
c) written not by one person but by a range of guest posters
d) and that comments were moderated fairly

So - if anyone would like to help get something like this off the ground then get in touch and we can discuss a way forward
